Another early start with a great drive through the leafy green German countryside to Heidelberg – explored the castle (built in 1386) – stunning location looking down the valley, across the city and over the river. Then travelled on into the Alsace region of France – many gorgeous villages along the way sitting against the hills, in valleys and also on the flat – characterised by clusters of orange roofed houses, church spires rising up and a few castles against the skyline.
A stop in Strasbourg – yummy salads for lunch and then a cathedral visit – another masterpiece. Driving on through France through grain and gewürztraminer growing region. Again lovely villages and countryside, A stop at the Swiss border for road tax and toilet (very smelly but free – most European toilets are pay to use). We then headed to Lake Lucerne and enjoyed a beautiful “happy hour” cruise across the lake before driving through some stunning mountain scenery and up steep roads to the village of Engleberg (Angel Mountain) – staying here for the next 2 nights, The scenery is A-MAZ-ING. Had a brief walk around the township, dinner at the hotel and then by chance were treated to a rendition by a Swiss singing ensemble in traditional costume – mostly male singing in unaccompanied harmony with a lead female singer.

Ciao Signora,
We at your hotel in Venice are pleased to say it is almost built. We have asked the floor sander to delay starting work in your room until 5 a.m. (Sundays 6 a.m.) Have a nice stay in Venice.

Nessun no lo ringrazia
We appreciate your advice and concerns. We are very fortunate that our Trafalgar Tour director appears well able to cope with all unforseen eventualities and has rebooked us 5 star no problemo. We do know a certain gentleman from our homeland who is keen to learn of excellent accomodations in Venice and we shall pass on your details to him.
Arrivederci per ora
