Sunrise at Angkor

Up at an unearthly hour to climb a mountain this morning. Watched the sunrise at Bakheng Hill, an old temple site overlooking some of the other temples of Angkor. Then a fancy picnic breakfast and a gondola ride along the ruins of an ancient buray (type of ancient Khmer water reservoir). Tranquil and very relaxing.

Visited several other temples today  – Bantreay Samre, Banteay Srey, Bayon, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm (favourite).

(Templed out!) These places are amazing when you think about how they were built, rock carted etc in 5th -12th century. Mostly built to worship Hindu Gods but later some also included Buddha. Temples similar in some ways and different in their own ways.
Bit of culture tonight with dinner and traditional Cambodian (Khmer) dances being performed for us.
Very hot again today!
